EVM address format and EIP-55 checksum checker
This local checker tests 0x address syntax and EIP-55 capitalization. It cannot prove safety, ownership, existence, network or transfer compatibility.
Check an EVM address
Local syntax and EIP-55 only. No network lookup or input telemetry.
Worked example
| Try a documented fixture | Expected interpretation | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 0x5aAeb6053F3E94C9b9A09f33669435E7Ef1BeAed | EIP-55 match | EIP-55 specification |
| 0x1234 | Invalid length | Deliberately invalid example |
| 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 | Zero-address sentinel | Never use as a receive example |
What the checker computes
The implementation hashes the lowercase ASCII hex body with Keccak-256, then compares the original case to EIP-55 capitalization. Uniform-case inputs are reported separately when they do not match that checksum representation.
Keep recipient checks separate
A checksum mismatch is a reason to return to the trusted source. Do not repair a suspicious address merely by normalizing case. Input stays in this page’s memory; it is not saved, included in the URL or sent by this tool.
Common pitfalls
- Only EIP-55 is checked; chain-specific checksum variants are outside scope.
- Use public addresses only. Never paste keys or recovery phrases into a lookup.
